  • Premiership Odds Data Question

OK trying to do something fairly simple but it seems to be getting complicated and a tad frustrating. What I am trying to do is get hold of the 1 X 2 odds for last season's premiership matches. I am looking for the odds close to kick off.

First I tried Soccervista and got a nice printout but the problem is the odds are not very accurate and have about a 4% overround in them.

Next I had a look at Betfair data and the problem there is they don't seperate the data leading to huge files and a lot of wasted time. Felt like I was using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Is there anywhere that has these 1 X 2 odds to 100% and is also pretty well in line with the Betfair odds at kick off? Or if anyone has recorded them feel free to PM . Thanks.

Thanks a lot. Going into the match like you showed gets rid of the overround.

Is there a simple way of getting the Betfair prices? I have been using Fracsoft a bit which is great but too expensive and time consuming to use for the kick off time prices. It would be a great resource if we could get them up on here, I'd happily get a portion of them if anyone is interested.

If you don't want to do it manually you'd have to code up some screen scraper to grab the data. The Betfair data in there isn't to 100% or even best prices usually, I looked at a couple and the books were 102% plus. You could get pretty much the same data in one csv from footballdata.co.uk for bookies prices.

Not too sure why the fascination with using betfair's price as these days you can usually beat it especially with bookies playing to a 2/3% margin and the variety means you'd usually get better elsewhere. Unless you need to trade on bf you'll get better prices elsewhere.

It's Betfair 2011-2012 Premiership historical prices I was after, just wanted the near kick off prices. Just looking to do a bit of back-testing on my somewhat basic odds pricing model. Getting the bookies 1 X 2 to near 100% is a good start but the couple I have from Betfair do differ a little.

Fair enough, the problem is if you want to do it properly and get the correct betfair prices I think you'll have to go down the data.betfair route and parse out the correct info.

The data on www.betexplorer.com is probably close but I can't imagine they're scraping the site often enough to hit the exact KO's and the 102% books they're putting up probably confirm that. If you start cutting corners with the data you may as well just use the data off somewhere like footballdata as it'll be close enough and already parsed into a file for you.

I know some guy on the betfair forum went thru the data files to get the correct off prices ages ago, can't remember his name but remember seeing the discussion on how best to do it. Could always ask on there as I'm sure a few will have the correct data.

Thanks that's a good idea about trying the Betfair forum if nobody has them here. If it comes to it I might just pick 50 of the most interesting games as regards the pre match odds and look at those.
