2.30 Newmarket
Just scanning the IP prices for this arvo's racing now and I see that NATIVE RULER was done at the minimum 1.01.
Unlike some of the other results in the past few days, his conqueror DANDINO was also matched at the maximum 1000.
Given that the Timeform in-play prices are usually based upon a minimum £100 matched, this would go down as the biggest shock of the week.
I reckon the commentators played their part - Simon Holt definitely called Native Ruler as the winner ("Great training performance by Henry Cecil... etc) and the bookies' feed also went with the wrong result initially.
That said, the first price I saw on the photo was 1.15 Dandino - so fingers were burnt during the race as opposed to upon the close finish.
The run of IP carnage continues

While we've all seen this plenty of times, we never get used to it.
On Mon April 25th, M.Rasen 3.50 race 7/2 2nd fav Pyracantha, ran
like a crab, hassled along non stop, jockey really earned his fee, was
matched at 790 in run, won.
It's all good fun................if we're winning.....

sometimes i do it too...
when i'm winning, i often "drop away" a 100 euros lay at 1.01 just for fun of in-play gambling. sooner or later i'll win one
anyway i know that in the long term the result will be +100-100-commission = i'll lose 5 euros of commission every 10.000 euros of bets

If you watch at the end of the races, especially over 2m4f ,if it comes to a two horse battle, just watch the lay prices being offered for the horse that has a little chance to win.
It seems that the prices do not represent the real odds...

Also a few months ago, one of AP Mcoys rides hit 1000 at the final hurdle and was matched for £300 odd pounds it went on and won in the final run in,

i remember a similar thing happened to me: after i hedged for a profit pre-race, i kept "playing" in-race with minimum stake of 2 euro.
i backed at 100 but got matched at 900, i was sure the horse can't win anymore and immediately layed it again.
if i didn't lay it to save a minimum stake, now i'd be richer of 1800
