can't start AGT

Have been successfully using The Toy for a few months but starting yesterday I can't log in.
I get 4 "There is an error in XML document (0, 0)." messages before the normal log-in screen appears.
Then when I try to log in to betfair I get the attached window.

I've tried updating the .NET framework but .NET Framework 3.0 won't install.
I'm still running Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 although Framework 3.5 SP1 shows up in Control Panel.
Have reinstalled AGT several times but same results every time.

Any suggestions?
