  • Hedge bets getting duplicated

    I typically bet on the football correct score markets. I have noticed quite a few irregularities in in the hedge bets, particularly when a goal is scored.

    If I have a back bet partially matched and the lay hedge bet is also matched, sometimes the lay hedge bet is then duplicated. Obviously I don't want that. Sometimes it is repeated while the game is still in progress, and sometimes it is repeated once a goal is scored.

    Further info

    Further to yesterday's comment, the problem is still on-going. The duplication of the hedge bet seems to happen at random, but still only occasionally. I had thought it only applied to small bets under the Betfair limit (mine is $5 Aussie), but it has also occurred on larger bets. It still always seems to be when a bet is partially matched though.

      Over 24 hours and nobody has replied to you. This can mean only one thing, people don't understand what you are saying.

      How do you hedge your correct score market ? Which green figure, if any, do you click on ?

        I've just noticed that you have written this

        "If I have a back bet partially matched and the lay hedge bet is also matched, sometimes the lay hedge bet is then duplicated."

        Are you trying to hedge before your back bet is fully matched ?

          I use the Grid interface, so set up a back bet by clicking on the best available lay price, then sometimes adjusting the price by a click or two before placing it.

          I normally run it as follows:
          - The Fill or Kill is on, normally with the time set for four or five minutes
          - The tick offset is on for my selected number of ticks, the hedge box ticked and the full match box unticked.

          I run this setup pretty much all of the time and it works just fine. If my back bet is only partially taken the appropriate proportion of the lay bet is also placed. Just on the odd occasion (Twice this weekend, for example), the partial lay bet has been placed twice by mistake. Because the correct score market is one of those that usually trends in one direction I am often forced to trade out the rogue bet at a loss.

            The easiest solution is for you to trade manually. The tools are only a help if market conditions allow them to act fully. If they don't work exactly as you want them to, they cause problems. You have already found this out and, as you say, the market tends to go in one direction, and losses cannot be avoided.

            So, I suggest you go for simplicity. There is nothing which suggests the tools are buggy.

              To confirm, when you say the lay hedged bet, you are talking about the bet that is placed by the tick offset? { IE you are not specifically greening up the selection }

              What's new in version 1.2

                I believe that part of the "problem" is caused by the fact that the first back bet is placed at a price which is not available and that it is not fully matched. Also, we do not know what "tick offset" boxes were ticked.
