  • ~30k for 30 seconds' work?

Just after the Valencia game kicked off (I mean red suspend, then go), someone backed Valencia with 49k taking all orders down 3-4 ticks.

About 30 seconds later they score.

That's god-like work right there. :Brilliant

'Course, if they held, 5 minutes later, they scored again. SP 1.78, 1-0 saw 1.3, 2-0 seeing 1.09.

    Bastid.

I wish. I've never made a profit on footie. It should be ideal for me cuz I tend to do 1 or 2 tick trades, which minimizes profit to some extent, and the horses can be so volatile that I take a 5-6-7 tick loss. A more stable market should suit me, but I cannot crack football. Fair play to all of you that can.

It's that very same reason I stay away from horses!

Yeah, I'd love to see who is doing these crazy-arsed bets. Maybe it's drunk, lucky Russian or Chinese punters.

Isn't this because people are hoovering bets on spanish footballmarkets

Apparently betfair is too slow to suspend the markets from what i read regulary on the betfair forums

30 s is too long. I bet the goal was scored max 20 s after bet.

Ah, good point. Maybe that's why.

Is it not more likely that they had layed Valencia, had a big red on them and when it kicked off and they didn't want to let it run they put a back in to get out?

If it was due to delay, you can be sure they would be taking more than 3-4 ticks down. No way in hell there is a delay that big anywhere. If there was there wouldn't be betting on it or they wouldn't bother suspending it at all. Sure some may get away with some somewhere, but this would be reported big time to BF and they wouldn't risk it being too consistant.
But either way, if this was the result of a goal being scored, the price would have moved more like 30-40 ticks before suspend rather than 3-4.
Prices in soccer still get out of whack. Come up too quick, or go down too slow, and people correct the market. This time it worked out brilliantly, maybe next time it won't. But either way, as minimal as it may be, there are plenty of times that value will appear in a soccer market throughout a game.

Please note, I don't trade, watch, like, soccer in any way. I have however watched markets, and you watch them and know that there is opportunities and markets moving too quick that need to be corrected.

Moving a price 30-40 ticks is a sure way of alerting everyone you 're beating the clock, not to mention putting yourself at risk of disallowed/offside goals. The football hooverers are doing fine with their current methods and certainly don't want to risk being closed down. You're being pretty naive if you think these are natural market moves.

Well I think you are naive if you think there are only 1 or 2 "hooverers" working together. The market works the same way regardless. You grab what you can. If that means somebody is jumping 5 ticks, you jump 6, and somebody else jumps 7 and so on. You think people give a shit about alerting anybody if they aren't the one hoovering the price anyway?
Sure I am basing my opinion on what I have seen and that is generally not soccer, but seriously, 3-4 ticks is a normal movement in most sports where somebody wants to get on.
