started trading a couple of years ago, and did everthing wrong!!! did everthing i now
know is totally wrong. started with £1000 bank, won £350 first day (brilliant) thought
    this is so easy.
soon learned the hard way, and lost the lot in a matter of days. i have to say i was
over influanced by video's from a certain blagger!
i'm now much wiser, i'm at a stage where i no longer allow myself to loose my bank,
but guilty of building it up, and then blowing a big chunk of it ? (greed) or (lack of disapline) not sure but determined to get there, i can now honestly say that i can see a bit of light. i'm trying to get to the stage where i can make a little weekly income.
wish i had that £1000 bank now.
learned a lot from this forum so many thanks to you all.

I trade because I don't want plans to be made for me, I want to make the plans myself.

Surely it's all about the new Land Rover LRX, the X5 looks a bit dated imho!

Save your money and get a 4 x 4 that actually does the job of a 4 x4. A BMW badge is bugger all use on a Welsh mountain in a blizzard but my X-Trail carried me everywhere last winter and I live at the highest place in the town.

Guy down the road has an Audi 4 x 4. Couldn't get it to go anywhere, while I was bombing up and down the hill

Lot depends on the tyres, I have a front wheel drive hatch and use winter tyres from October to April (mainly because of driving through Germany where it's illegal not to have them) and I was overtaking 4x4's that couldn't get up hills last winter in the UK... Also coped with the Alps.
If you want more luck... Take more chances!

Saying that though, the area in the UK with the most amount of 4 x4's is London!

I have seen people using this rubbish:

                  :WTF

Mine has regular Pirelli Scorpions, not winter ones. First time I drove a 4 x4 in deep snow I did a 360 turn but I've learned what to do now. Lots of them about in my town but they are mostly used as status symbols with the drivers not being able to handle them properly.

Looks aren't particularly important when you need to drive miles theough eighteen inches of snow. I'd back mine against any modern Land Rover. The old Land Rovers, about twenty years old and more, do the job well but they were not designed to look pretty, just to do the business.

the old ones were designed to "go to war", aaand... do the job well

The new ones are designed to look pretty, make you feel bad about ruining the paint aaand... do the job :P

What's it like driving with snow tyres when there is no snow on the road?

As I'm thinking of getting a set.

It's like booking an appearance in court for driving with tyres which are illegal if they are used when there is no snow

They are not illegal, they just have a different compound and a chunkier tread. Using studded tyres or chains when there is no snow would get you a tug though.:Naughty

Only one man lives above me on the mountain and he has no problems in snow because he has a JCB Digger/Earthmover. He used to clear the road for us but the local council stopped him doing it. Why do we have so many clowns spoiling our lives ?
