    • Hello all

Just a quick shout out to all on the forum and forgive me if I drain you by asking too many questions in the coming months.

Guess I should start by asking does anybody know any good site's for dutching on racing or other sport's? Started with this as i have a little understanding of it and have the dutching calculator.

Second question is for the Geek himself, do you run courses on your trading strategy or is it all done online? Must be honest and say that my skills at trading would be poor so unsure as to how to proceed. Is their one-2-one tuition available?

      Regards,

      Simon.

I thought as much but wanted it to be confirmed, best to play arond with the software before going on the trading course?

          Regards,

          Simon.

          • Best not to go on any training course. If they were so clever at trading they would be sitting at their computers making money for themselves instead of sharing their "skills" with others.

Find somebody who lives near you and help each other. Anybody in South Wales is perfectly welcome at my place if they needed help/tution with basic trading and use of software. They will not need to give me Ł499, or anything, and the contents of my fridge will be at their disposal for free.

The only expenditure anybody should incur in trading is the cost of his software and his actual losses at Betfair. Avoid training courses and tipsters at all costs !

            • Hello from Cheshire

Afternoon all, newbie to the forum here, although I've been lurking for a bit.

Just wanted to say thanks to The Geek for the software, and to those of you out there who don't know how much you've helped me already.

Whilst I'm an experienced (and therefore losing, gambler) I've only taken trading seriously for the last 6 months. I've found that any fool can make one or more successful trades, it's about making consistent ones over a long period of time, and handling the losses in a balanced manner that I think sets the successful traders apart.

I've done a lot of reading on mindset, and try and implement tools to stop me going on tilt by going in running etc. I've found that if I 'welcome' going all red as part of my daily operations, and factor in that it has to happen for me to get the majority of my trades all green, then I'm OK.

Interestingly, before Xmas I trialled a simulation mode, and I was hugely successful, but the minute I went live, the old habits resurfaced. I put that down to having a lack of fear when in simulation mode, when there wasn't real money at risk, whereas if you're an unconfident trader, you almost get the trading equivalent of the golfers 'yips' not knowing when to enter or exit a market when real money is at stake.

Anyway, enough, I just wanted to say hi, and who knows in time I might be able to add something of value to the discussions.

              Every success, everyone.

I have no personal experience of the training mode and I almost certainly never will. As you have said, trading with real money is very different to trading with "joking money".

I use another trading software. The manufacturers of this software acknowledge that their training mode is helpful but it can never replicate precise "real market" conditions. This should be obvious. Your bets never enter the real market and the market does not change due to their existence. The best a simulation mode can achieve is something near to real conditions.

Take a look at the "Who's a Clever Boy" thread and look at the videos there. You'll learn more from them than you'll ever learn by using any simulation mode.

If I lived in the valley's I'd be at the door lol. Seriously though I wasn't entertaining Bet Devil or the course run by Webb. I was more interested in the Six months course run through this website. My interest in dutching and trading was to minimise risk and treat Betfair/Betdaq as a business. On the subject of your email If anyone in Ireland North or South wants to help each other learning the skills of trading then I would be happy to take part.

                  Regards Simon.

                              • dwafl3, grab a beer and download the USER MANUAL

Use small stakes for a while until you are more familiar with The Toy, after a while you will be able to customise the program to your personal liking so it suits your style of trading.

                                Happy reading and experimenting,
                                Cheers!
