Once submitted, you have a bet under the minimum stakes......

Maybe you wont be able to do it like this forever but you can certainly get away with it.
It is stuff like this that you only learn from using just the betfair website,
the example above is also used by various software, so is advantageous to know
as you wouldn't want to get unwittingly matched at odds that you didn't intend to!
You miss the point. Betfair do not permit betting lower stakes and if you do that regularly without going through software/the API you will get banned, according to what I've read. So the bottom line is that your minimum bet must be £2.

In fact, technically, you've actually bet MORE than £2. You just cancelled the £2.

Of course they don't, that is why they have a big tolerance towards it!! I don't know where they would draw the line but you'd have to do it an extreme amount of times to get banned....

No, because the bets are separate, they count as two bets and the first isn't matched and doesn't count!

It's irrelevant. The minimum bet is £2. You're fiddling to get round it. I understand doing it regularly in a manual fashion will get you slapped wrists. 30 times a day, I expect they'd wag a finger at you. Once a week, probably not.

It is just a myth, spin......
No one has ever been banned because of it.......
          No finger wagging, nada......
That is what they want you to think.....

Absolutely correct they will not ban you , I have been laying to 3 euros liability irrespective the size of odds and back to 1 euro for the last 3 years, never a warning , not even a thank you!

If you are confused about whether you are breaking the minimum stake rule, time to get a job anyway I think.. Surely there is never a time to bother with coins on Betfair, we all have to eat, and that won't feed anybody unless you are trading up over 500/1.....

And let's look at another example...

                Current Back Price: 3,00
                Current Lay Price:3,05

                A.Back 2,00e@3,00
                B.Lay immediately 2,05@3,00---->after 20secs matched

                Result: I have layed 0,05@3,00

                All stakes >2,00.

                Anything BF have to say?

Your initial problem seemed to be a result of failing to distinguish between "stake" and "liability". You can surely have no doubt about Betfair's rules now. If you seek to work around them, that's up to you.

I know of one person who has been banned for repeated mutliple small stakes but I think he never placed a bet above more than about £ 0.15. As Temujin says, if you wish to be a serious trader then "small stakes" is definitely not the way forward. Market conditions change as the stakes increase because of greater difficulty in getting matched prices, so success at "small stakes" is in no way an indication of guaranteed profits at higher stakes.

I have a bot which hardly ever fails to make a profit of £0.13 for a £ 2 stake. Reality is even if it never loses, a profit of £4 per day is not something to get overexcited about. When I increased my stake to £40, I managed to lose £ 80 in one race

So, use the small stakes sparingly and you'll almost certainly be OK, but if you use them continuously they will find you out.

Well, in that case, the minimum stake is 1p.

I think that sometimes we should point at the Un-fair of a situation ando not at the sum of money...

I think you'll find that the minimum stake is not 1p, it is 1 cent (a greek cent at that)
