DVWooly Diary - trading horses pre race

Seems to me not much has changed in these markets.

Maiden races are a minefield
NH Flat races are a minefield
6-3 mins before off - trends occurs
3-1 mins before off - prices consolidate
1 min to 0 ... all over the place

I got spanked in 2 of these.

Next week I'll miss these rubbish races out.

I've been using 1 tick offset. Not sure if that is limiting my gains and doing nothing for the losses.

Any feed back on using offset?

No odds on favourites

Yeah it is a bit of a ghost town lately, there are still a few of us hanging around. Odds-on favourites have cost me a fortune over time too. Good luck today.

Finished the day up £15 ..... lost £48 on one trade. Recovered slowly but surely.

Pre race is tough. I don't bother scalping anymore. More selective of races.

if you think betfair trading is full of sharks then try forex, thankfully im from a hedge fund background so know a few institutional methods. I may try it here on Betfair if i can get an excel spreadsheet to update fast enough.

didnt follow my own rules and lost big on maiden and some bullshit 2 horse race .... £500 start ... now £503

I put on trade and forgot

laid that fav in maiden

it fell

i won £350

account from 500 to 850

I will now stick to my rules

was going nicely yesterday and then i hit a £35 loser
