been treading water of late... lernt alot but find as i get more ambitious im making some more mistakes, mainly not to scratching when i should be and being a little over confident!

Just reviewed one of the races i recorded with camista today and have realised im enterening the market alot more of late... maybe more than i should be? i've been using book profit so its easy to track how many 'ticks' a race/day i make..... here is how it went for the race i just reviewed in ticks....

+4, +2, -1,+1,-2, -1, +1, -4, +2, +1, +1, +1/2

Obviously somewhat laboured but left me +4 1/2 ticks.

am i entering it far too much??? id consider that to be an average race with the amount i enter the market in the last 10 minutes. Highn sight is a great thing but really dunno why i let the -4 happen i should of scratched alot sooner.

I downloaded the free trial for 30 days... i woudnt buy it, i think you can get it for free in places, ask Scumbag Trader, he did tell me a link before but i didnt have time to download it then.

Do you enter the market as much as i have there??

Hi all,

Just thought id add an update as ive not done this for a while.... today i got myself a desk/comfy chair etc and an now trading in my spare room, this has made a big difference i feel and is a better enviroment than the livingroom with all its destractions.

Well of late ive had many ups and downs the main problem being stakes.. i think its come back to the origingal points about emotions with trading as i found at 25p a tick profit i can make a few ticks a race but at a £1 a tick all i can do is loose! .. i think its linked to the way i think when im trading and the loss of more.

Today i worked off 50p a tick, at times i had some decent swings although im still not sitting on them long enough and i think the ugly bomber reared his head a 3 times 1 time he caught me out for about £4 .. frustrating but i just kept my head above water today.

I did feel like today was a success though as alot of the time the Green figures i were seeing were substantially larger than im used too... just a shame i pissed it all up the wall in the last 30 seconds a couple times lol.

Another day like the other..... lapse in discipline is what is stopping me from progressing.... the £9 loss was a stupid error and waited instead of scratching, majoity of today was 75p a tick, some at 50 and 25.

Progress could be worse when ya think only been going at it a month or two i suppose.

Once again a lapse in discipline cost me dearly, i ended up -12 one one race and decided to lay the fav for the 12..... it won and ultimately cost me -34 in one hit as your see below!! Painful, although taking that into consideration i dont think the results were that bad.

I found today swing trading can be so much more benifitial had some real monsters, still finding it hard not to cut my profits though a couple of times i could have left it longer, 75p a tick on everything today with the odd double click.

What can i say? I think im finaly getting somewhere!! Proper happy with todays progress, although i didnt break my one race record it was steady and quite frankly id prefer it that way. Swing trading is the way forward as far as i am concerned now.. scalping is just to fill the time in them last couple of minutes, i've most definately gone past the 'eureka moment' now... feels good, just a pitty i didnt have as much time tonight and didnt do many markets and have to go away for a week with work, will be interesting to see if i can manage it still when i get back.

Managed to squeeze in half hour before i go away wish i could stay... starting to feel like its not a fluke anymore ................ what have i learned of late??? very little i think, although the subtle changes have made a difference and there the only type of things ya can get from practice, 1. Always and ONLY apply your edge, meaning if it dont conform to your edge leave it alone. 2. Try not to be scared emotionally and dont be frightened to ride it for a few ticks... it really is that simple!

ill make this my last diary entry as i've achieved what i started it to do, learn the basics and progress.

Looks like you got what is needed to consistently make money from trading, you just need to polish some stuff. I feel like I'm almost at the same level as you maybe a bit lower :P, with the same mistakes, but with slightly smaller stakes.

Thanks for the kind words, hopefully this thread will help anyone new to trading and show you dont need to buy courses and books etc... from the short time ive been trading (few months) i've found a level im comfortable at and seeing its not a full time occupation for me im happy to continue gradually upping the stakes.
At the moment its dificult as i have a small bank of £200, i remove all money i make at the end of the day each day... hopefully this will make me a better trader and when i have the spare cash in future ill up the stakes a little!

Anyway, thought id post up a pretty average day, couldnt be bothered to do many markets... just shows you dont need a huge bank to make a few quid as long as you stick to your edge and keep on going, think i was about 2 ticks down at one point, but that was it all day. Boring but consistent.
