  • Can anyone help?

I am scalping the match odds on the Lille v St. Etienne match at the moment - a new strategy I've been trying for a couple of weeks- and I have noticed that someone is laying £6000 and then immediately £6000 is backed on Lille. This amount has been going up and now it's for £12,000. But, although this is showing in the last traded price columns it not showing in the total amount traded nor does the amount waiting to be backed or layed change.

It looks like these are ghost amounts - has anyone come across this before and does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks - from a very confused wanna a be trader.

most of the time its to manipulate the market in there favour to make others think someone is backing /laying it and can bring the price up or down.

        Thanks Rob

Not sure if this is what they are doing as the money only stays in the market for a fraction of a second, first to lay then subsequently to back - blink and you miss it - all the money has gone. And they can't be scalping cause they are laying higher than backing lower, so unless they are some bored millionaire they will be losing!!!!

It's the API being a bit spazzy if the horses are anything to go by - similar figures are flying around there too, The Geek has put a post up about it.

I've never been able to work out what it is, but I've seen exactly the same thing happen quite often pre-match in tennis.
