  • Crazy £100 Challenge

well its almost a year on since the first £5 crazy challenge now. I'd hoped that this year may be a bit different but after a reasonable start to January I find myself again struggling at the exact same point of the year. Inspired by the couple of other 'challenge' type threads I'm going to do this again. However I am going to make some slight changes:

    1) I'll be starting with £100. Its a nice round number that most people could put in BF if they wanted to so I think its a fair starting point.

    2) I'm going to commit right now to keeping this daily (if i take a day off from trading I'll say so in advance)

    3) I'll run this right up to the last day of the month, come what may.

    4) whatever my profit is at the end of the month I'm going to donate 10% to The Geek and he can use it for any charity he wishes.

    5) I'll be posting daily P&L screenshots, they will include Greyhounds and horseracing and maybe the very occasionall football bet. I'll also do Oz racing where I can or feel up to it. beside from trading I have very little commitments so I can work long hours and sleep in and pretty much do as i please. If there are any doubting thomas's out there i'll be happy to include a video of my P&L though i'd prefer to not have the hassle as i've no idea how to make videos really.

So, Game on. Challenge starts now 02/02/12 19.11

I'd appreciate some tips especially for doing stuff in-race.

    GL anyway.

I meant to add: some of this will be Prerace trading, some will be IR trading and some will be outright gambling. if you are following this thread and you see something that stands out on my P&L and you're wondering then just ask and i'll do my best to explain where said loss or profit came from.

No problem I do believe you and I really am looking forward to it...
            no pressure

its threads like this that gives the inspiration to many, me included!!!
I'd wish you luck but I have a feeling you don't need it, just bigger balls to make challenges public

I also have a feeling that the 10% donation of potential winnings will put you on the free lifetime subscription list. I donate wen I can to get myself on it as at the moment I can't see else what I could offer to achieve Jedi status

may you grow big balls (wish you luck)

Hey keefter, all the best mate. Hopefully will see some nice results

I've been doing IR quite heavily myself lately, id say im almost finding it easier to profit from than pre race.... havent the balls to up my stakes yet (£10 - £30), something you did slowly? any advice on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

              All the best!

Thanks very much for the offer, I'll be supporting Sport Relief next month, so it can go to them.

On that note you've given me a brainwave, so I'm going to also match your donation or that of anyone else doing a similar challenge between now & sport relief. as specified here.

i hope that you will loose all your deposit in some spectacular way and this challenge will end up in tears and fears. i hope eventually to see one thread where people watch that trading is not so easy-peasy entertainment but real hard and full of potholes job where you can lose your hard earned money in split second.

oh crap, wait, that means no money for charity? ahh what the hell, win this one man, really enjoyed watching this challenge last year, lets see how fairy tales becomes reality, good luck:Thumbs

haha - that isnt an impossible scenario, you never know! I'll do my best not to end up taking a bet IR in some event and blow the balance though.

Last Nights P&L's for the start of the Challenge.

I did a couple of US races but the markets were dead as a doornail and seemed pretty manipulated so i sacked that off and did the Mutts instead. The Televised cards on RPGTV (Sky Channel 231) have picked up quite alot since the channel went live, nothing that will make you a fortune but still perfectly tradable. I did make a right mess of one market, The Hove race at 21.40, it was an odds on pop, for some reason i always want to lay them to death, of course this one just kept coming in and in as i watched in disbelief. -18.13 was a pretty big hit for a bank of £100. nonetheless overall I'm happy enough with my effort.

                      Profit: £42.06
                      New Bank: £142.06

Well done on making a cracking start despite the early :Naughty.

I take it the -£18 was pre race? I understand you don't use a stop loss as such but was wondering what you do in a case like this. Do you base your exit point on a losing trade on what the ladder is indicating to you?

Yup it was a greyhound market so there is no IR. what basically happened her is that tehre was a load of orders stacked to lay the dog around the 1.80 mark, then it all disappeared and the price shot in 6 or 7 ticks in no time at all. I waited for about 30-45 seconds to see if it came back up but more large orders appeared this time to back and I ended with a bigger loss than i should have had, I could have taken -9 after the initial move to back it but my loss was compounded by the price continuing to shorten and me not reacting to that, rookie mistake really.

Hope you was not affected by the betfair-blackout this morning. It kicks me a couple of nice possible winning bets wich i placed as betfair-sp.
Betfair is not the answere, it's the question.
                            ....and the answere is NO!!!

I didnt start until almost 8am, decided to do the OZ evening markets rather than the daytime stuff. looks like i made the right decision there.
