  • Monitor mounting

    Hey all,

Looking into getting a mounting bracket/stand of some kind for my moniors (dual... possibly trebble stands) had a bit of a look online and they either seem rediculously priced or naff. Anyone got any suggestions that they have or have used ?

They are pretty common now I believe. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago holds 4 monitors. Moved house so haven't put it back up again yet, but it does the trick... About 150 I paid for it I believe

Spoke with Chuck earlier but for anyone else interested in what I use have a look at this post I did a while back.

One pain with the mounts are if you plan to alter the height up and down once you have them set up as it involves getting someone to support the screens then you undoing the bolts on the clamp and then adjusting the height and tightening the bolts. Not a one man job. But if you plan on just setting them up and leaving them in place they are fine:

That sunk-in set up looks awesome. The only thing for me is
            (1) I play games so like a central screen
            (2) I can envisage those lower monitors needing to be water-proof (well, coffee-proof). I've already shagged two keyboards by flooding them with coffee.

Bwahahahah. I read your reply, then suddenly burst out laughing. Glad I don't work in an office.

Oh, Amazon sell various solutions at what seem like quite reasonably prices eg 2 monitor set-ups for about £50. They might be shite, though...

I use the MDM06 seen in leon's first vid.

It does everything I want it to. I did have to cut a slot in my desk to place the clamp correctly tho. A VESA compliant monitor is a must.

I made the desk myself for about £30-£40. It looks as good as any desk you can buy but the advantage is it does exactly what I want and all the dimensions are customised and includes cable management.

Since that video I have changed my setup and have made a second desk. I still have a central screen but also the sunken one and a higher one.

I got the idea for a sunken screen from news readers who always have their desks sunk in to their desks. I find it much quicker and less painful to move my eyes up and down rather than my head side to side. I use to find when looking side to side over a long day that my neck would start to ache, but now my head remains in the one place and my eyes just look up, down or straight ahead.

If you are trading each day it really can make a difference not just to your health but also to your profits imo.

My main screen has a plinth so I can store crap underneath. My right one has two Pascal books and a QBASIC book to raise it up.

At the moment, all my work is done in the main screen. The one to the right is for stuff like forums, email etc. I actually have a problem if I am encouraged to look down. That's when my neck starts to ache.

I have issues with my right hand. Being a hardcore gamer, my thumb, middle and ring fingers ache so much that it even hurts typing. Have no idea what can be done about it in fact
