  • Aus & US horse racing timing

    Hey guys,

I was trading 16:46 Race 7 Hawthorne US horse racing market and it went into suspension 6 minutes early. Is this normal for US racing I've seen it happen a few times before but not this early and I haven't been trading that long. I'm just a little pissed off because I had a profit on one horse and a loss on the other and if I would have got to hedge up (which i was just going to click) I would have had a small profit rather then a loss. Should I complain to betfair I guess they wont give a shit lol.

    Cheers,
    Tave

    Hi Tave,
US racing markets are notorious for going off whenever they feel like it. Whats happened to you here is unfortunately fairly common.
I'm pleased to say its the opposite in Australia.....they are very reliable at getting the fields off right on time or just a few seconds past post time.
    Hope this helps.

Yeah, think I have seen 1 or 2 Aus races jump early in all my time. The usual scenario if they are loaded early is watching the starter looking at his watch to make sure he doesn't push the button til after jump time. Is all about the totes here, the majority of the betting is done in the last couple of minutes typically when the vision has crossed to the venue, so if you do Aus racing, just make sure your clock is accurate and you should be fine.
US racing on the other hand, I believe they just jump when they are ready, regardless of time.

Thanks for the response guys, living in Australia the US markets are at the perfect time in the morning for me shame they are so unreliable. Its frustrating 6 minutes early but its good to know what to expect now.

use some site with timer, let say betamerica.com, u can watch live races there also, they late about 10-20sec, but when the timer goes in to the post time just stop with trading or ebetusa.com have also good atp times and all tracks!

A lot of racecourses in US are little more than a circus, created without any scope of horses selection or breeding purpose. The medium level is very low compared to UK/IRE and accordingly to that the entire structure is managed by a little private entity as a small casino (mountainer park, Parx Racing, Charles Town , etc..). They should not respond to anyone of delays!
I also add that the American races are the most rigged in the world, i've seen hundreds and now I can say that without a shadow of doubt

Oh cool those sites will be very handy thank you.
I've been listening the free skyracing radio stream when trading aus races very handy to know if they are running late or early etc

I wouldn't expect any less from a casino then to rig something hehe

I've used https://classic.ebetusa.com/racing_menus/next-race.html in my bots in the past to get an indication of US start times. Doesn't cover all courses but better than nothing

It's cool, but what about AUS?

Aus rarely ever starts early but quite often late. Off memory I've seen it go off early once by like 1 second so you can rely on the Geeks toy timer.
Going late isn't a problem for me I just close out before the 0 on the GT timer.

This is the best radio station/tv stream I've found

Its also a AM/FM radio station around Australia if your from here.

                      skyracing.com.au/media/playerv2.php

                      full link...

But yes, fully agree. And since I don't get radio in my house (WTF must be too much interference?) I use this, as it is as close to live as you can get without the radio. Within .25-.5 second of live. Great link.

Not to mention it also has next 5 to go, 5 replays, and latest results.

Log into your account on the website at www.betfair.com and check what timezone is set in your profile, probably set at Eastern European rather than GMT+1.00
