  • UFC 135 Jones vs Jackson

I'm a big MMA fan and I was looking over the odss for the Jones vs Jackson match.

Somehow I don't think the difference between them is as big as the odds would say. So there might be some value in laying Jones/backing Jackson.

Any thoughts out there? I'm putting a straight lay in there as I'll not be up to see the fight.
If it wasn't for physics and law enforcement I'd be unstoppable!

Jon Jones 1.23 vs Rampage Jackson 5.1

    Tale of the tape;

I would have 'Arms and legs' Jones slightly bigger but he is hard to hit and Rampage will do well to get into range in this one.

1.8 to lay Jones by KO/TKO would probably be the way I would go, but should Jones get going early doors they might need to get the mop out

That looks pretty short for Jones. Rampage is no slouch although when sports stars move into movies I always suspect they're not as 100% focussed as they were.

Jones' ground-and-pound is pretty vicious so I hope for Rampage's sake he's not on the receiving end of Jones' elbows

It's when traders move into movies that you want to start worrying

I thought Rampage was fading until I saw his last fight against Hamill, he was looking very crisp and focused and didn't allow Hamill to lure him into overcommitting.

I feel Jones is certainly favorite but not by this much. I too bad we can't run the fight 5 times.

I've not seen UFC 135 yet - I will see if I can "acquire" it tomorrow

I might have to avoid this thread until then!

I'm only upto 133 and tend to watch them in batches.

You're right, Rampage looked mean against Hamill in 130. I don't rate Hamill much though. He's a great wrestler but can't finish a fight that well. Even his wrestling was weak in the match with Rampage, whose takedown defence was excellent.

Watched 131 earlier when Carwin got battered by Dos Santos......now that's serious punishment Dos Santos vs Valasquez will be the one to watch!

I'll not get into the Rampage Jones fight then but Dos Santos Velasquez indeed is going to be great. Don't we have Lesnar Overeem first? Seriously looking forward to that one, especially since Overeem is a Dutchman.

I think Overeem should be able to take Lesnar but I wouldn't be surprised if Lesnar outwrestles him. I think either way it's going to be an anti climax with either the one or the other making short work of his opponent. If Lesnar tries to stand with Overeem he's going to get pummeled, he's never stood againt a stand up man like Overeem before. I'd say Overeem wins this fight at least 7 out of 10 times.

Now Overeem vs Velasquez, that could be a really interesting one. If Overeem beats Lesnar I'll risk an opinion on that as I have some sort of frame of reference but I think Velasquez is one serious individual.

Somehow I feel Dos Santos is a better matchup for Overeem as JDS likes striking too and I don't think he's superiour to Overeem in that.

                Now Overeem-Lesnar looks interesting

I've not seen Overeem fight before as I've never followed Strikeforce. Do you follow Strikeforce then?

He looks like a beast and will probably smash Lesnar, since Lesnar has never really looked the same since his gut problem.

hopefully they will both knock each other out in the early stages of the match and save the audience from wasting a part of their lives a bit like me not posting this and wasting a small amount of yours.

Overeem is not only the Strikeforce champion, he also is the current K1 champion.

You should checkout Strikeforce too, they had a heavyweight tournament this year and only the final fight remains. Their have been some great fights leading up to it.

Strikeforce has been bought by the Ufc this year and I think they are going to use it as a league where you can earn your ticket into the ufc.
