  • In Running Race Timer

I've written a race timer for In Running that works along side The Geeks Toy.

You can have up to 4 sections in the race, and optional sound at the end of each section.

If you wanna give it a try it's available for download at:

There's a blog post about it at:

Note: It is for UK/IRE races only and only works with The Geeks Toy as it is fully automatic (nothing to click) and picks up the race distance and start from the active market.

To open the options page to set up the sections/sounds etc. click on the progress bar.

    PS It's free...

Did you extract the files before running the setup?

It's written in C# 2010 Express, the publish app functionality in the express version is fairly basic, I tried it on another PC and it installed ok, but maybe it needs .net 4 or something.

        I'll have another go later.

Great stuff Cran, i got it working, a few years ago i wrote down all the race times from 5f to 3miles and worked out the averages for each distance's that app makes it easier.. works a treat. :Brilliant

Thanks! that will be really useful. But I can't manage to make it work right. It installed ok and it can detect the length of the race and the time, but the progress bar isn't working, nor is the sound. Any ideas? thanks.

Hi Alfred, can you send me a screen shot of your GT layout.

It detects the start of the race by the colour change in the Market & API Status window. I've hooked into the docked and floating versions of these windows, but maybe something is different in your set up.

Thanks Cran. Your post gave me some clues about what to look for to solve my issues. It's all working well now. I'm pretty sure the problem was that my API status was on a different monitor than the Toy's ladder and your program.
                    Real good stuff.

Best guess is you are missing a sound file usually installed with Windows {Windows Ding.wav }, or your windows directory isn't called "Windows".

Shame on Cran for not catching that exception though.

Very disappointed in Cran, surely he should have had my PC setup in mind when he wrote this.

                            Welcome to my world Cran.

BTW You can fix it by sticking any .wav audio file with that name in that directory.

Just done it thanks, and all is goot!

Now I'd prefer if such failures don't arise again, one error is just about forgiveable.
