  • Wladimir Klitschko vs David Haye, 10pm (Approx)

    No thread for this super fight yet?!

    The tale of the tape;

    The question marks;

    1) Does Haye have the chin?
    2) Is age catching up with Klitschko?
    3) Will the (biased) judges be called into action?

    The Sturm v Macklin fight last week told you everything about fighting in someone else's 'back yard'. Sky pundit Jim Watt had Macklin 3 up with as many rounds left to go - when the cards were returned at the end of the fight one judge had it 115-113 Macklin, the others went 116-112 Sturm. Outrageous!

    One point to note from watching that fight is that Sturm was trading at around 1.7 for the majority (Started at around 1.35) - until Watt put his scorecard up after the 9th round. The 1.7 about Sturm quickly turned into 2.5, as layers chose to take Watt's verdict for a substitute of the 'real thing'. A costly mistake!

    Current BF odds;

    1.56 Klitschko

    2.92 Haye

    50 Draw

    Too many contests are ruined by the judges, referees, cuts, premature stoppages, etc. Tonight there is a bit of a personal edge and they should at least hit the ground running - unlike A Farce when he got his chance with Haye!

    There are plenty of doubts on both sides for me - Kiltschko has a record of beating 'bums' and Haye is totally unproven in the Heavyweight division. He took the title from the freak of nature that is Nikolay Valuev and then beat John Ruiz (who had seen better days) in his first defence. The less said about the Audley Harrison fight, the better.

    The Ukrainian boasts an 84.4% knockout percentage - Haye's is 88.4% but as a heavyweight he's 2 from 3, 66.6%.

    Providing Haye's chin stands up to 'Dr Steelhammer' early doors he should get the opportunity to offload some hard, fast shots. Cuts could easily enter the equation as the rounds tick by - so for an interest in what could be a short-lived contest, I have taken Sky Bet's offer of naming the round in which the fight ends;

    Round 9 - 11/1

    Round 10 - 12/1

    Round 11 - 12/1

    Let him have it, Hayemaker

            I've got 2 bets, on a Klitschko win in Round 5 (26) and on a Klitschko win in Rounds 9-12 (9.8) - Just straight back bets, not trying to trade this.

            I've just got a feeling Klitschko will either KO Haye in an early to middle round, OR it will be stopped by the ref late on. Thats my thinking anyway.

            I've supported Haye in every fight up to now but I think he has overstepped the mark this time with all the trash talk. I know it's to hype the fight, but still...

              Steel Hammered

              Good fight by all accounts.

              The size and reach differences were obvious from the (belated) first bell, Klitschko was able to jab away whilst Haye could only swat flies and fight Wladimir's shadow.

              Neither man landed knee-wobbling shots, so the result went to the cards and (as expected) the Ukrainian walked it in the decision stakes.

              The Sky boys sent the market all over the shop once again - "Klitschko looks tired" they said after about 3 rounds.... causing a big drift.

              George Foreman's card was equal throughout the contest - perhaps he didn't quite grasp the task in hand??! (- one punch too many??)

              Not a classic, but didn't disappoint either. Buenos .

                    Yes, good fight. Haye neutralized Klitchko's death jab very well by his speed, it's very hard to make. Imagine, to move your body faster than very fast hand. I was a boxer, I know that is very hard. It was more tactical fight than usual fight. I saw that Klitchko very wanted to KO Haye, he waited when Haye lost concetration on one second during full fight. But I think Klitchko could be more successful if he hitted Haye not head, but hit to neck or body, then Klitchko's hits would be accurate. This is just my opinion.
                    Indeed points is normal, though 1st rounds were draw, it's true. But Haye very seldom to reach Klitchko, like against Valuev. You remeber Haye ran away full fight against Valuev. For example Chagaev and Holyfield didn't ran away against Valuev and won.
                    Haye is good fighter, I would to see him again.

                      Yeah, a class boxer can't give another class boxer 2 stones.

                      Would have backed K, but know anyone can get a cut eye, etc.

                              Former heavyweight champion Frank Bruno felt Haye should have pulled out of the fight. “If he had a broken toe I would advise him to pull out because a broken toe is your balance and it works everything. Without it, your balance goes. You can’t punch straight, you can’t balance yourself, you can’t even move.”

                              That's right Frank but you didn't have a broken toe.
