  • Remote control PC

I've looked at VPS for my bot and I may go down that route, but I don't need amazing ping for the strategies I use so a VPS is not essential.

Another option is to just leave a PC in the UK (or anywhere) and control it remotely over the web from wherever I happen to be.

Does anybody use remote control software and have any recommendations of what to use?

I use remote control but only in its simplest form at the moment. I use a smartphone and Teamviewer (free) software. It works but I have the advantage of being able to rest it easily if something goes wrong because I can normally get back home quickly. I also use the Betfair Android application so I can place bets on the move without needing to use any of my computers.

Hopefully, I will be using remote control more frequently next football season as I hope to refine my bots and use them more then.

VPS and PC at home + Android phone with Teamviewer installed is what I use.

Could anyone tell me why I should replace Teamviewer which is free and use LogMeIn which is paid application ?

There should be other reasons than...paid is always better ?

There is an earlier thread which discusses this. Logmein Ignition was recommended by someone who actually had used it and found it to be very good. Teamviewer has worked adequately for my needs and I didn't want to pay for different application until I had sorted out my bots.

Android phones have the advantage of having many free applications and to date I haven't paid for anything. I use the HTC Desire HD which has one of the biggest screens available ( 4.3 inches ) on a phone. This could be more important than the choice of application because one needs to be able to use a touch screen accurately and the applications are all somewhat "fiddly". I decided against an iPhone earlier because I felt it was more a fashion accessory than a sophisticated phone. All a matter of personal opinion, of course. My phone is now using Gingerbread as its OS and it's perfect as far as I am concerned.

I would recommend that you use Teamviewer to begin with and assess its suitability for your own needs. I think I know what you are looking for and I think that Teamviewer will be OK.

PhoneMyPC isn't too bad, has some nice features, although I would recommend only wifi use for it if you are doing anything important. Also a good spy tool, just install it on any computer, enter your details, hide it, and you have full interactive use, or simply watch what is happening on the screen, take snapshots, whatever you desire.
Also used to use LogMeIn, and don't actually recall paying for it? Don't really have anything bad to say about it.
Haven't used this Teamviewer, but I am certainly about to check it out now to compare with PhoneMyPC.
Used to have an iPhone, but now use a Samsung Galaxy, as iPhone is all hype and everything is Apple and licensed, so Android apps all the way for me.

You can try using various remote support services such as logmeinrescue, gosupportnow, GoToMyPC etc. or can even consider deploying on premise remote support appliance such as Bomgar or RHUB appliances in order to remotely access computers from anywhere.

I'm not sure if this is the right place but I am looking for a recommendation on what betting programme to use. I have only good things to say about geeks but I need something that will automatically load the days racing and act according to some very simple triggers. I took a look at marketfeeder but there backup support is non-existant and its not at all user friendly. I'm also hoping my new programme will have a test mode and will have a green up function.

If this is the wrong thread I am quite happy to take a direction.

You may try using a RHUB remote support server for remotely accessing computers.
