  • Trading horses - Is this a strategy ?

I have been trying to find a method of market prediction to enable me to trade in the 10-3 minute period before the off for the Gee Gees.

It seems to me that quite a few of the market selections market price moves rather like a logarthmic sine wave, with swings reducing in period and amplitude as the off approaches.

Obviously this is excepted by the horses that are laid furiously or backed heavily in the race.

If we can identify the likely offenders and try to trade them round crossover prices methinks there is a future in this.

Obviously , like all trading, selection is the key and the usual rules about stake management, not going in play still apply. I have being doing this with micro stakes and am pleasantly surprised by the results.

Do you guys have a view on this as a viable strategy or have some nasty experiences with something similar ?

Yea, i've noticed such a horse at the first race at Kempton today. It had three perfect waves and really made my day cause i managed to lay the bottom twice! :Thumbs

Don't know too much about sin waves and such. But with a lot of horses you see resistance points and price waving between 2 points. If that is your strategy, wait for it and go for it when you find it. Not all horses will be the same, but nobody is forcing you to trade on every horse, or even every race.
Fact is, some horses are very predictable just looking at their history. Find it, hit it hard, and you have your strategy. After that, find another strategy, and go from there.
You really only need one good race to make your days profits, and if you are confident on what is happening, then you can be much more aggressive than just a regular trade.

My number 1 rule: Wait For The Opportunity.

I think you are somehow correct. That's more or less the behaviour of the market, but i don't see how you can mathematically predict the maximum and the mininum in real time... but maybe you can bet near it with a low error margin...

you would do far better to stop looking at complicated models and indicators and just watch the market on the ladder and learn to read it manually

I agree with you. The better thing to do is to watch the market and gain experience on reading it. With the time you use on making complicated calculations and registers, you can learn a lot on watching the odds behaviour and becoming a better trader. You can't substitute the experience of evaluating risks and making instant decisions, with mathematical analysis. Some statistics can help, but you need much more than that.

                Pricewice horse tips on Saturdays

I have heared if you buy the Pricewice tips early Saturday morning, before everyone reads it, you can back the horse for a good price, and just before the start of the race, you lay it off with a profit.

Can anyone post the Pricewise horse early in the morning at this forum, and then we can make money together?

I am not living in England, and cannot buy this paper.

                Cheers.

                      Pricewise selection:

                      3.00 Uttoxeter - Synchronised 1pt win at 6-1 Generally

The price has long gone and 9/2 is the best left on offer, as this page confirms

                      Have a good one

Interesting concept, I might have to try some adding some Fibonacci studies to the charts to see if follow any calssic patterns.
