  • Old software re: horse racing

Just found in my box of old 3.5 disks a program i bought years ago when i first had a home computer a 386 machine, the program was called Horse sense and rated horses by inputing data, of course this netted me millions at the bookies and i never had to work again...... Oh wait that was the dream back then, lol

think it dates back to 1990

Going to see if it will run on my older laptop at home.

Anyone else recall old software, seem to remmember one called Brimaton or something like that, all pre betfair in anycase and trading applications.

I think there also used to be a Brimaton database, similar to Adrian Masseys that you could use a while back to make systems, not sure if its anything to do with the Brimaton tipping service. Anyone know anything else similar to Adrian Masseys site i.e. a database where you can match criteria to a horses chances etc
Tough times don't last. Tough people do.

          Brimardon

I can remember subscribing to Brimardon on the Atari ST - that's going back a bit! (Prob 1995?)

I don't think the principal has ever changed - the software used to fish out selections based on their Topspeed ratings in the Racing Post. It used to take hours of manual input but sometimes it was worth the effort.

Brimardon grew to be fairly big at one stage, as per my earlier post about tipsters it was Gary Wiltshire and Brimardon who teamed up to be 'Tic-Tac dot com' - they owned a horse bred by Gary (Mi Odds) and a couple of greyhounds (Tic tac dot com and Kilcurra Solo who was later renamed Tic Tac System).

It was fun while it lasted but inevitably folded due to lack of members and members like myself who joined AFTER the horse had strung up a sequence of wins at tasty prices

Threw into the deal was a daily Brimardon download - this must have been 2004/05 or thereabouts. It was clear as mud - faster than the old days granted, but no clear instructions as to how to interpret the ratings. Of course the adverts in the RP were quoting 16/1, 20/1, 33/1 winners, etc,etc - some were 4th or 5th highest rated!

They switched their attentions to the exchanges some time back now and you do still see the odd ad, much more of a professional set-up than when I ordered my ST disk - I remember that the guy's missus answered and she had to go and get him from upstairs!

          Great stuff

Ah, the good old days ! Sixpence each way on the spot horses in the Daily Mirror was a sure fire way for a ten year old to win money. Especially, when the old men in the bar were giving him the sixpences.
