  • Need to find some discipline

How do you get disciplined, this is the one thing now that is really starting to feck me off big time, every time I do well get in to a grove start to make things work follow a system decide to call it a day with a profit, then think ill have another quick go don't bother to follow the system then bang into that dreaded red zone.I really am starting to consider electric shock treatment from the mains every time I think of something stupid then zap.If anyone else could suggest anything that would be great.:Arragh

How about, not calling the system a day with a profit, carry on using the system . . . .

Its always the way, you think i have made my profit i'll stop now and then the greed kicks in and you say Oh just a few more £1's because you feel invincible then bang... if you have set a target and reach and say thats it, no more make sure you mean no more.,

make sure you get yourself something that you like doing that keeps you busy, that is not related to betting while at home when you decide to finish the day's trading, go do something that you like and forget about what happened during the day.

It's very hard, isn't it? I found it easier (and more profitable) when I changed my thinking from "I want to make X pounds a day or per race" to "I'll take every opportunity that comes along and see what I've made at the end of the day".

It sounds like what you're doing is using your system successfully and then, when you have what you think is a good enough stake, gambling. You need to clearly identify your aims: do you want to build up a stash, or do you want to make a gambling pot that you're likely to lose every day?

Like has been said: if you want to carry on trading, carry on using the system that works.

I am going to help in the best way I know how.

No matter how much you think you will get over it, you won't. I have been doing this for years now. The only thing that has happened, is my tolerance has grown. Work in a morgue, dead people will start to not bother you.
About 3 weeks ago, I had 2 trades go against me. I simply shrugged my shoulders, said **** it, let it ride.. (before today, there was no in play in Aus markets)...
Next one, the thinking was, well, I did it last time, why not do it again.

Lost 5k in about an hour.
I knew I was going to lose, as this is what happens when you gamble. But I did it anyway? Hmmm..
2 years ago, I would have nearly slit my wrists. Today, it is like well ****, that was silly...(And no, the point isn't me trying to say that 5k is nothing, simply my tolerance has grown. I am still dirty about it, as it is a cuntload of money to me.....)

So while some of you let 30 bucks go in play and lose and think **** my life is over, in 5 years time when are still trading, profitably, you will let 1000 go in play, just because you can.

There is something that can be said about discipline. But lets be honest here, the big majority of BF traders, are all inspired by gambling. Otherwise they would be doing something a little more disciplined, such as not trading... Or, at the very least, trading stocks, forex, etc etc...

And yes, I realise that in terms of trading, BF is the most efficient, but still, it is sports/racing betting prices. The people attracted to this are people attracted to the punt.
