  • Keeping records of bets

Im no professional trader but my number of bets is increasing and I have just realized that I do not have any kind of statistic, record or excel. From time to time, I take a look to Betfair betting history of Betting Profit and Loss but that only keeps 3 months record, and analyzing that info regularly I guess should help me to remember past suceess and failures.

How do you guys deal with issue? Is there any program or web to do it? Keeping it manually on an excel file is time consuming if you do a lot of scalping.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I just download betting history from BF at the end of each month and save it on my PC.

Used to save the each sport seperately, but increaces the time spant looking at computer screen, so just

print off the more interesting p/l's nowadays.

Note down details of 7 day p/l, & update a register of ongoing results for each sport, seperately

Record P+L on a daily basis for horse racing, tennis, and 'other'. Just count the number of winning and losing races to get an idea of overall percentage success and the number of races traded along with profit/loss per race. Also record premium charge and withdrawals.

On a separate sheet record overall totals for each month and for the year.

I find that this will do for me. For a newer trader it may be more helpful to record more information, especially if you're still trying to find a niche - or what is profitable or otherwise for you. For instance, I trade in running, so it may have been helpful to record things like race distance as shorter races can be more volatile, class of race and so on.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

When dowloading the excel from Betfair, I see that numbers are alligned to the left, and if I do place a sum formula, it does not work. Changed it to number or currency format, but still is like a text.

Do I need to edit all the figures one by one? Or is there a straifghtforward method?

Select the cells containing the number, then click the drop down list and select 'convert to number'

Might be slightly different for other versions of excel, but you just need to convert the text values to number.

                  Hi,

I have developed a product that does exactly that and more.
Coincidentally I am releasing it tonight.
If you want to drop me a mail at handyandyblog@yahoo.co.uk I will email you back details with a link. I don't want to give all the details here as my intentions are not to spam.

oops just noticed that the post from Torrezno was from a year ago!
