  • What to look for when buying a PC for trading and streaming

Im looking ot buy a new PC. Not laptop, but one of those big ones you can not move around. Luckily I have a friend who is into PCs and will happily build or find one for me. The question however, is what am I supposed to ask him to buy?

    1. I need The Geeks Toy to work perfectly. With my current laptop, new markeds are slow to open.

    2. I need it to be able to stream 3 games simultanusly.

    3. Otherways I will not use any other programs than word and excel.

On this board you have recomanded SSD instead of a regular harddisk. I will go for that, but what more is needed?

hi, the toy doesnt require a high quality and expensive computer, so you could buy a "middle" one and not spend too much, if you dont plan to use it for graphics/video editing, 3d or gaming.

if you want to watch sports in streaming while you trade, i think the quality and speed of the videos depends more on the connection than the computer hardware.

      What system to use

      Hi Articinvest,
I had problems with my previous system probably because of a virus.
I bought a Dell Optiplex from Amazon for £90 (inc. del'y) just before xmas and rec'd it in a couple of days.

      http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dell+optiplex

This is just the system box - but you can get similar complete with screen, keyboard, mouse for about £120/£150.
It covers everything you need - I can run 2 (Or more) versions of AGT, a betting bot and several open websites via 'Chrome' as well as a spreadsheet in Open Office - all at the same time with no problems.
The only problems are when Betfair's API link is playing up.
I've attached a couple of pics.
      Best regards....dt

Any mid-range computer will do. Buy an SSD if you want extra performance.

Make sure you get a video card with two connectors. Most low-end and mid-range computers have an integrated graphics card which means you can only connect one monitor.

i bought a video card that has 1 dvi and 1 hdmi plug.
but both my monitors have only the dvi plug, so i connected 1 monitor with the normal dvi cable, and for the other i found a cable with a hdmi plug on a side and dvi plug on the other.
wasn't expensive, i dont remember exactly but probably 10-15 euros.

Make sure the new system comes with the Technology "Trader Inside" with the feature "Always Green"... if not, just play Angry birds with it :P
