  • Greening up

    Hi
as a complete novice just about everything confuses me... anyway, can anyone explain what i'm doing wrong when i try and green up? eg- the other day i finally managed to get a couple of ticks profit (it was only 80 pence) but i tried to green up and couldn't - is there limit of £2 on every bet on Betfair and is this the reason i couldn't spread my potential profit of 80p over the other six runners? I know it's probably a dead stupid question but somehow i can't seem to break a habit of a lifetime. ... Thanks - ric

yes there is a limit but the toy can circumvent it. What market was it ? If it was a volatile market it may be that there was not enough tim e to get the bet on as the toy has to fudge it slightly to get the bet on by placing other bets and cancelling them - this takes longer to place the bet and the odds may have shifted by then. So if it's a volatile market it might be better to use a defined exit point and stick to it if it's a below £2 bet or try training mode.

Look at your profit/loss settings ... I suspect yours are switched to 'off'.

Right Click the top of the Ladder -> Ladder Layout -> Profit/Loss -> Select 'In Bet Column'.

If that doesn't help, post again ...

          green up

Hello,Thanks but have not got a clue where this is.

When I try to green up,it does not all go green.

If my back bet wins great if the lay bet wins I lose.I cannot work out what I am doing wrong to lock in a profit.

          Thanks for your help.Wendy

              gree up

Hello this is what I do.

              I bet on the horses.

First I make a back bet, then when the lay odds change and go lower,I laythen on the right hand side of the betting slip I click for the payout to come down.

I then add all the numbers on the left that are in red and green up,
and put that in the payout box and click ok.

But everything on the left does not go green.

They saye that should be how you lock in a profit, according to the betfair video.

              Hope this makes sence Thanks

The software does the calculation for you ... there is no need to do it yourself ...

For reference, the hedging calculation is:

                  If Backing first ...

(Back Stake * Back Odds) / Lay Odds = How much you should Lay to equalize.

                  If Laying first ...

(Lay Stake * Lay Odds) / Back Odds = How much you should Back to equalize.

                  Pretty simple ...

I must emphasise, that what you see above is the theory and is what AGT Pro will do for you automatically, so no need to get your calculator out.

Essentially, if you place an initial Back or Lay bet, you will be able to close the trade out for either a profit or loss, by clicking the figure under the timer.

Once you can do that, there are a whole heap of other techniques to be learned ...

Could you describe what you are doing? Are you using the Ladder or Grid?

Back high, Lay low ... or, Lay low, Back high.

All bets must be matched to green out.

You can set the software up in many ways.

You can complete a whole trade in as little as one click.

If you give more details of what you are doing, we can help.

I would suggest using this to make a quick video in training mode, then we can go from there.

No downloading or uploading is required. Just record and post the link it gives you ...

Would it be possible for you to please give the logic behind laying to a liability and then greening?
EG.....Lay to a Liability of £50@1.3 then greening at 1.8
                          Many thanks

All you would do is work out your stake, in your example it would be ...

                            Liability Stake = Max Liability / (Odds-1)

                            = £50 / (1.3 - 1)

                            = £166.66

Now you have your stake and odds, so to green out at 1.8 ...

                            it's the same ... (Lay Stake * Odds) / Back Odds ...

                            (£166.66 * 1.3) / 1.8 = £120.37

                            Comment
