  • Second wifi connection (Disaster prevention)

I've been caught out a couple of times with my internet connection suddenly going down, i'm on Tiscali and although usually reliable when it does drop during a trade then panic set in as i try to close positions via the Betfair app on my Blackberry mobile phone which is not the quickest.

Recently using my Laptop, i stumbled upon an open connection called BTFON, and ended up on their website. Basically if you join and buy their wireless router you can share your current Broadband with other BTFON users, in return you have free access to the whole BTFON network, so ideal for travel too.

Now i use my current Tiscali connection for my main trading PC, and connect my Laptop to the BtFON network (with Geeks Toy open but no windows active).

Has proved to be extremely effective as now i can close all trades in an instant, without paying for dongles, secondary lines.

Thanks for this Chris, I tried using the web site but it doesn't let me search for the hotspots and doesn't explain things too well (to me anyway).

I'm with BR broadband but not BR home Hub so I can't log in .

says theres one right by me but can't seem to find any on any scans from my computer?

I personally have 2 wifi connections and also a 3rd 3g wifi network that is powered by a router with a battery so in a powercut I still have internet access

The betfair iphone app is my last line of defence.

Might be a bit average in play though!

Ah, I don't have a go column probably because I'm not logged in.

Bit of a waste if I can't see what hotspots are available before I decide to join, as I said I don't have BR Total Broadband so can't log in !!
