  • Profit or Loss?

Not trying to make this a dick swinging contest, just thought it may be interesting to get some sort of idea of the profit levels across forum readers. Don't expect anybody to put any figures in their posts, assume it can be as anonymous as possible?
Will try to keep this as most likely currency, so will call it in pounds.
Obviously you can keep it as rough as you like, since there is no guarantees, but should have a reasonable idea of a 12 month period if doing this long enough.

So if possible, can we keep quiet until there are a few votes to keep things as private as possible on a public forum...

Only been going a short while.

So I do not know if you want people that have been trading less than 12 months to vote. I have been trading a full month, overall net loss is around the £15 area. If I was to continue at this rate my projected 12 P&L is -£180.

Think the poll is a very good idea.

Still figuring things out so I checked the 100,000+ option because, frankly, I'm a god.

Guess it would be good to know what sort of hours people put in too?

Been doing this only a little more than 1 year, but so far over 12 months i barely got out of losses. If we talk actual numbers then it would be around 10EUR. So far i only have 2-3 hours a day to trade. During summer it was enough to make some good profits, but now i would need atleast 5 hours.

Hours wise is a difficult one as i have a full time job at mo, generally i try to do an hour a day and if i can 1 maybe 2 full days in the week at a push, done 62 markets this week... supose if you count them at 10 min intervals thats 10hrs 20mins, looking at it like that the returns not bad

              Hi T,

that's an interesting idea, I know that some people don't like to discuss their finances, but personally I don't give a tinkers' cuss.

I've been trading seriously (Horse Racing) , or at least as seriously as I am able, for about 13 months. My accounts been up and down like one of the extremely popular lady's (what do you call them again?) knickers.

I decided to use a percentage of bank staking plan, reasoning that I'd never actually "bust it" the stakes would just get smaller, which they did, considerably so. Due to personal circumstances I didn't really start to "put the time in" until about April this year. I "bottomed out" at £25 in June/July, since then I've clawed, scratched and bitten my way back to £77 (at close of play yesterday). I've been "flat lining" since the end of evening turf racing, although I think that it's just starting to move up again. I reckon that I am thirty or forty quid behind my starting level. With regard to "dick swinging" it's impossible to swing anything so small.

As far as trading time goes, I was "doing" about 29 hours a week (I've got a full time job) so my wage from trading must be the worst on the planet. The trouble is I just love it, all the flashing lights and moving graphs and on those occasions I end up a few pence in front on the day, I can hardly sleep with excitement.... Sad isn't it?

              cheers, MC

It's sad that this is anonymous poll. Who voted 75000-100000+? I think they joked. I don't think this is possible.

Why?! Just because you and me cannot make it, doesn't mean it's impossible.

Betfair yesterday announced new way of Premium Charge calculation, and one of the conditions is net profit over 250.000 GBP; do you think they set that number randomly, or there are traders who achieve that?! And if there are those who achieve 250.000 over lifetime of their account, there are surely the ones who achieve 100.000 over course of a year!

I suggest that, who reaches Premium charge, better share money with us, who never reach PC. It think this would be better than to pay PC to robbers from Betfair. Let share money for poor traders. Kinda donations. For example, if I reach PC I will share that money with others. Because I don't see another way and I don't want to pay to robbers.
You ask me: "how we will share money?" We will arrange about meeting on some empty market.
