  • Monitor Stand Issue - MDM11S

    Hi dudes,

Just a quick post here to find out if anyone else on the forum uses or has used these stands successfully.

I have purchased 2 of these stands to mount 2 of these monitors.

First off they sent me 3 stands instead of 2, fine if that's how they want to run their business no complaints there. That's just about the only area where there are no complaints though!

First problem is the height adjustment tube is too small for the bracket. I have tightened it to the maximum tension, where there is literally not even a millimetre of space left and it still slides down the pole with relative ease (and this is without the monitor being attached yet). I have highlighted this on the image so you can see what I'm on about (obviously this image is a pile of crap becasue it does not stand as illustrated, it slides down until it hits the base).

The second issue it that after attaching the monitor via the WESA mounts, it appears to be way to heavy and flops forward. Now I don't have cheap light monitors but they aren't particularly heavy either, and are 22". The product description mentions it can take monitors from 15"-27" so I'm well within this. Again have a look at the image so you can see which part I'm talking about.

Main point of the post is to check to see if anyone else uses these and if so did you need to make any modifications to get them to work? I'd like to have them working rather than go through the long process of sending them back and getting a refund, and then looking for alternative products.

Also noticed on Amazon that they have halved in price, and that on the whole the reviews are quite positive. Perhaps I've just got a terrible batch here or the whole world is on crack.

    :WTF

Anyhow any ideas on how to get these damn things to work would be much appreciated!

    just wondering.

Took a look at the pages you have linked to the post. "hmm" is just me or does the monitors look too heavy for the stands??. Another thing is that there has to be a reason for Amazon halving the cost of these same stands so this begs the question why??. I would suggest getting in touch with the company you purchased these stands from and trying to resolve this issue and tell them what you have told us forumites and see if they will resolve this issue for you. It "may" be just a bad batch but you can never tell. Sending you more than the specified order says to me they are somewhat lax in their proccessing of orders. All reputable companies have a returns and refunds policy but you have to jump through hoops to prove you went all the way through their standard grevance policy. If they are lax in checking orders before despatch then it makes one wonder what else may be less than desirable

Get on the phone if possible BUT you just might get a school leaver who is totally brain dead so you takes yer chance there. Also try PC world who have knowledgable people who could advise you on other possibly better products to use with your chosen monitors.. Such an annoyance when you don't recieve what is advertised so if no joy keep ALL receipts and correspondance to show the trading standards guys who will take it further for you, "IF" needed. Hope this helps a little and I hope I haven't be preaching to the converted. Have a great day racing and I hope you have all green screens

first problem, once you've got the monitor on the weight should put enough friction on the bottom front and rear top of the clamp to stop is slipping.

If it doesn't undo it and stick some cardboard inside the clamp.

second problem - can you remove the plastic end and tighten up a nut?

(I have no idea if you can, just a thought from looking at the picture)

you could also try a google search on the make/model numbers and see if anything comes up.

I just put my monitors on small boxes or piles of books so they are the right height
If you want more luck... Take more chances!

Watch this about how to tighten the nuts:

As for slipping down the pole I am not sure why that would be happening as the screen's weight should stop that - but try poping in some cardboard as Cran suggested as that will effectively widen the pole.

LOL - I have 2 TV's on one of my stands one of them stay in the same place all the time the other I move several times a day and because of me moving it I end up having to re-tighten that one every few months as my moving of it eventually works them loose but it is literally a 10 second job to re-tighten it.

            Glad to be of assistance.

J.S. - as you can see in the video my ones are an older model of yours it would seem.

Thanks for the replies guys, after a hilarious call to the supplier (but that's another story!) I managed to get these things working.

The first issue required a plastic washer supplied in an extras bag. This was not mentioned in the instructions but the guy on the phone told me it was probably shipped with instructions for an older model, so that explains that. With the washer in place the arm is very secure.

The second issue was simply a tightening of the bolts as Leon described. Just like as jimrobo mentioned I didn't realise the side parts flipped off. After me best muscle man impressions it was much tighter and secure.

Just in case anybody else was thinking about getting one, gotta say the price on amazon is a bit of a bargain, they are very secure and look decent aswell in the new all black finish.:Thumbs

Thanks again for all the replies guys, got there in the end!

No worries - I have to say the ones I have have done me very proud and were a bargain compared to what others were charging. Yes they don't have the ease of moving them around that say the Ergotrons have and if you were moving your screens day in day out I would say these perhaps aren't for you and should invest in some more expensive ones but if all you want is your screens held in place they are a bargain and I think very well made and strong and a fraction of the price Ergotron charge.

Can't comment on the style you have JS as mine are both as per the video I did - anyone like my T-Shirt? I wore it just for B adger
